Alger Management recruits director of international sales

Robert Gourlay was named senior vice president and director of international sales at Alger Management, the European affiliate of Fred Alger Management, a spokeswoman said.

He replaces Kirk Hotte, who left the firm in March. Mr. Gourlay is responsible for strengthening and developing Alger's relationships with private banks, multimanagers and institutional investors outside of the U.S.

"Alger has experienced steady interest in our investment strategies and products from U.K. and European investors, making it a top priority for our team to strengthen our international footprint," said Jim Tambone, executive vice president and chief distribution officer, in a news release.

Mr. Gourlay previously worked at Advent Capital Management as a managing director and head of business development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where he focused on a European client base. Details of his replacement could not be immediately learned.

Fred Alger Management has $26 billion in assets under management.
