Aled Smith was named investment director at J O Hambro Capital Management, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Smith replaces Sandy Black, who left the firm in February, the spokeswoman said. It could not be learned what Mr. Black is currently doing.
Mr. Smith oversees investment teams and recruiting for investment talent as the company adds investment strategies over time.
"(Mr. Smith) has a tremendous pedigree as an experienced, successful investor and is an innovative thinker. His expertise will help us maintain our emphasis on generating market-leading long-term returns for our clients through high-conviction, active investing and will play an important role in the growth of the business," Emilio Gonzalez, acting CEO, said in a news release.
Mr. Smith was most recently director, equities division at M&G Prudential. A spokeswoman could not be reached to comment on a replacement.
J O Hambro Capital Management has £30.8 billion ($39.9 billion) in assets under management.
