Emory University picks new CIO

Srinivas Pulavarti

Srinivas "Srini" Pulavarti was named vice president and chief investment officer at Emory University, Atlanta, said Elaine Justice, university spokeswoman, in an email.

He will join the university on July 1, replacing Mary L. Cahill, who retired on Aug. 1, 2017, after 16 years at the post.

Mr. Pulavarti will lead Emory Investment Management, the investment arm that manages the university's $6.9 billion endowment. Christopher Augostini, the university's executive vice president of business and administration, is currently overseeing the investment portfolio.

Mr. Pulavarti is currently president and CIO of UCLA Investment Co., which oversees investment management of the $2.3 billion UCLA Foundation, Los Angeles, and its affiliates. Officials at UCLA Investment Co. could not be immediately reached to provide further information.
