Spokane Employees puts MFS Investment Management on watch for equity portfolio

Spokane (Wash.) Employees' Retirement System placed active domestic large-cap core equity MFS Investment Management on watch, said Philip Tencick, retirement director.

The $304 million pension fund's board on Dec. 6 approved placing the firm on watch for performance on its $17 million portfolio, Mr. Tencick said.

Dan Flaherty, MFS spokesman, declined to comment.

As of Sept. 30, the actual allocation to domestic large-cap equities was 19.7% of the overall portfolio. Other large-cap managers are Hotchkis & Wiley Capital Management, Jackson Square Partners and Vanguard Group.
