Illinois SURS hires deputy CIO

Ellen Hung was named deputy chief investment officer at the Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign, effective Jan. 30, said a news release from the retirement system.

She replaces Douglas C. Wesley, who was named CIO last year. Mr. Wesley replaced Daniel L. Allen, who retired as CIO in August 2016.

Previously, Ms. Hung was assistant CEO for the $2.8 billion Santa Barbara County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement System. Gregory Levin, CEO at the Santa Barbara pension fund, could not immediately be reached for information on Ms. Hung's replacement.

SURS oversees $20 billion in defined benefit and defined contribution assets combined.

A SURS spokeswoman was not immediately available for additional information.
