Wanlin Liu joined Carlyle Group's Asia private equity team in Shanghai as a managing director with responsibility for leading the team's growth investments in China, according to a Carlyle news release Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for the firm declined to provide details on the person Ms. Liu is replacing.
Ms. Liu comes to Carlyle from Goldman Sachs Group (GS) in Hong Kong, where she served as a managing director of the principal investment area, making private equity investments with the firm's proprietary funds. A Goldman Sachs spokeswoman declined to say if Ms. Liu would be replaced.
Ms. Liu couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
The Carlyle release said the firm has invested more than $7.5 billion in more than 90 transactions in China since establishing a presence in Asia in 1998.
