Matt Lewis was named vice president and head of exchange-traded funds implementation and capital markets at American Century Investments, spokesman Chris Doyle confirmed in an email Thursday.
It is a new position.
Mr. Lewis will report to Edward Rosenberg, American Century's senior vice president and head of ETFs, who was hired in June to launch American Century's ETF effort.
American Century is working toward an early 2018 launch of a suite of ETFs, pending approval from the SEC, the company said in a news release.
Mr. Lewis was head of iShares broker-dealer execution services for America at BlackRock (BLK). Prior to that, he worked as BlackRock's director of ETF product development for Latin America. A BlackRock spokesman was not immediately available for comment on Mr. Lewis' replacement.
Mr. Doyle said in the email that he expects American Century will be hiring an ETF portfolio manager and several ETF product specialists in the next month or so.
