Jill Barber was named global head of institutional at Jupiter Asset Management, said a spokeswoman.
The position is new and Ms. Barber starts Oct. 16.
She will report to Nick Ring, global head of distribution, and will focus on building out its institutional client base in the U.K. and international markets.
"We believe our focus on unconstrained investing and alpha generation will be of increasing appeal to institutional clients, and (Ms. Barber's) deep understanding of the market will be invaluable as we look to build on our strong brand and investment performance to increase our presence in this space," said Mr. Ring in a news release.
Jupiter has £46.9 billion ($63.7 billion) in assets under management.
Ms. Barber is head of U.K. institutional at Franklin Templeton (BEN) Investments (BEN). She will leave the firm Oct. 10, said a statement from the firm. Ms. Barber will work with the team to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities, with no expected disruption to the U.K. institutional business, said the statement. Martyn Gilbey, U.K. country head at the firm, will assume her responsibilities in the interim, with the firm looking to replace Ms. Barber as soon as possible, added a spokeswoman for Franklin Templeton.
