Mesirow taps CEO for currency management business

Joseph Hoffman was named CEO of the currency management business at Mesirow Financial, spokeswoman Nancy Gonzales confirmed in an email.

The role has been shared among executive team members since 2014 when Gary Klopfenstein left the position.

Meisrow manages $70.4 billion in currency overlay account assets.

Mr. Hoffman joins Mesirow from Russell Investments, where he has spent the last 20 years focused on currency and derivatives. Mr. Hoffman co-founded Russell Investments' currency implementation business in 2003, and most recently was chief investment officer, currency.

Kate Bauman, a spokeswoman for Russell, said in an email that Ian Battye has assumed the global role of chief investment officer, currency. Mr. Battye joined Russell Investments in 2003 to develop its currency management and currency implementation service and reports directly to Jeff Hussey, global chief investment officer.

Ms. Bauman said Mr. Battye was chief administrative officer for Russell but will not be replaced; his role being assumed by other officials at the firm.
