Robeco picks former Henderson Tokyo CEO to lead business in Japan

Shiro Tsubota was named president and representative director of Robeco Japan, a spokeswoman for the company said.

Mr. Tsubota joined Monday and replaces Kikuo Kuroiwa. A Robeco news release said Mr. Kuroiwa would remain with the firm long enough to ensure a smooth transition. Mr. Kuroiwa couldn't be reached immediately for comment.

Mr. Tsubota will report to Graham Elliot, Robeco's Hong Kong-based managing director and head of Asia-Pacific distribution. The news release said Mr. Tsubota will focus on expanding the firm's business in Japan, built around investment strategies such as "quant, sustainability investment, credit, global and emerging markets equities."

Mr. Tsubota previously served as CEO of Henderson Global Investors Japan for five years. Henderson merged in May with Janus Capital Group to form Janus Henderson Investors. The position was eliminated following the merger.
