Brunel Pension Partnership brings on CEO, CIO

Dawn Turner was appointed CEO of the 27.5 billion ($35.4 billion) Brunel Pension Partnership, Bristol, England, and Mark Mansley was named CIO, a spokesman said.

Both positions are new. Ms. Turner currently serves as chief pensions officer at Environment Agency Pension Fund, the 2.7 billion pension fund inside of the Brunel pool and will retain this position. Mr. Mansley serves as CIO at Environment Agency Pension Fund, also in Bristol, and will retain his position.

In addition, Laura Chappell was appointed chief compliance and risk officer. It is a new position. Ms. Chappell was previously head of risk at wealth manager at Brewin Dolphin.

Joe Webster was appointed chief operations officer, also a new position. Details of Mr. Webster's previous position could not be learned by press time.

Brunel Pension Partnership was launched to oversee investments for the Avon, Buckinghamshire, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Environment Agency, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Wiltshire pension funds after the U.K. government asked the 89 local government pension schemes in England and Wales to pool their pension assets.

The creation of the new executive positions and appointments at the pool level do not necessarily overlap with Ms. Turner's and Mr. Mansley's respective roles at their pension fund, the spokesman said.

"The pooling will not result in reduction of staff. Brunel is looking to add 20 additional staff at the pool level by the end of the year. And a number of those roles will be filed with staff from other pension funds in the pool. Not every pension fund in the pool has a dedicated investment resource. Investment may only be part of what they do," the spokesman said.
