Head of absolute-return strategies leaves N.Y. Common Retirement Fund

Tyson Pratcher has left his job as head of absolute-return strategies and opportunistic alternatives with the New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, confirmed Matthew Sweeney, a spokesman for Thomas DiNapoli, the state comptroller and sole trustee of the $192 billion pension fund.

Mr. Pratcher, who joined the pension fund in May 2007, left in early July "to pursue a professional opportunity," Mr. Sweeney wrote in an email. "His replacement (is) to be determined." Further details could not be learned.

Mr. Pratcher was responsible for managing an aggregate of 3.9% — or approximately $7.5 billion — of assets as of March 31, the end of the pension fund's fiscal year.
