Michael Williamson, executive director of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Madison, will retire at the end of the year, said SWIB spokeswoman Vicki Hearing.
Mr. Williamson has been executive director since June 2012. The board will conduct a search for a replacement and plans to have someone in place before Mr. Williamson's retirement, Ms. Hearing said.
Mr. Williamson also spent nine years as director of the $92.2 billion North Carolina Retirement Systems, Raleigh.
SWIB oversees $108.4 billion in assets, including the Wisconsin Retirement System's $99.8 billion in assets.
