Orange County Employees names new CIO

Molly A. Murphy will join the $14.2 billion Orange County Employees Retirement System, Santa Ana, as chief investment officer on June 23, replacing Girard Miller who resigned in January, according to a news release.

Since Mr. Miller's resignation, the CIO responsibilities have been handled by Shanta Chary, director of investment operations, together with the rest of the investment team, as well as general consultant Meketa Investment Group and strategic portfolio and risk consultant Pension Consulting Alliance.

Ms. Murphy was CIO of Mercy Health, Cincinnati, where she managed $5 billion in pension fund assets. Mercy Health officials are not planning to replace Ms. Murphy’s position, said Maureen Richmond, system director and spokeswoman, in an email.
