Cbus adds manager to oversee alternative debt sector

Linda Cunningham joined Cbus, the superannuation fund for Australia's construction and building industries, as manager, debt, with responsibility for overseeing the alternative debt sector on the Melbourne-based fund's public markets team.

The position, which includes designing and implementing internally managed strategies in that area, is a new one at the A$34 billion ($26 billion) fund, spokesman James Bennett said.

Ms. Cunningham was executive director, debt investments at infrastructure manager IFM Investors.

A spokesman for IFM said a search underway now for a replacement will include a number of strong internal candidates.

Cbus also hired Anna Weickart in Sydney as a senior investment analyst on Cbus' public markets team, overseeing international and Australian equity manager research. The position is new, said a news release Tuesday.

Ms. Weickart was an investment consultant, manager research at Willis Towers Watson. A Willis Towers Watson spokeswoman said Ms. Weickart had recently returned to Australia after a long stint at the firm's offices in Germany. In Australia, Ms. Weickart was filling a position for a colleague on temporary leave.

In addition, Cbus also hired Alex Miller as an infrastructure transaction specialist on the superannuation fund's private market team, also a new position, the news release said.

Mr. Miller was a director on the infrastructure and projects team of accounting and consulting firm KPMG. A KPMG spokesman couldn't immediately comment on plans to fill that position.
