Happy employees pay off

Best Places to Work honorees have shown strong asset growth and impressive long-term alpha generation.

Assets outpace:  AUM at best places to work firms grew at a 10.9% annual clip for the four years ended Dec. 31, 2012, compared to 9.7% for all managers tracked by P&I.
Long-term performance:  Among institutional U.S. equity offerings, winners' median risk-adjusted annualized alpha was 102 basis points over 10 years. Global/international equity strategies produced 148 basis points of alpha over the same period. For fixed-income strategies, honored firms generated a median alpha of 0.72% for U.S. investments and 1.74% for global/international portfolios over the 10-year period. REITs in the universe generated 163 basis points of annualized risk-adjusted alpha.
