William E. Kennard will join private equity firm Grain Management as a senior adviser, confirmed spokesman Anthony Applewhaite.
It is a new position. Mr. Kennard, previously the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, will begin on Nov. 15 in the firm's Washington office and will focus on investments in the telecommunications sector.
Before he was appointed as ambassador by President Barack Obama in November 2009, Mr. Kennard was a managing director at The Carlyle Group. From November 1997 to January 2001, he was chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.
