Chicago Laborers' Annuity & Benefit Fund hired William Blair & Co. to manage $27 million in emerging markets small-cap equities, according to recently released minutes of the pension fund's July 16 board meeting.
An RFP was issued April 1, according to the pension fund's website.
The $1.4 billion pension fund has a 5% target allocation to emerging markets. Vontobel Asset Management and Robeco Investment Management are listed on the pension fund's website as its emerging markets managers.
Neither officials at NEPC, the pension fund's consultant, nor Maura Murrihy, executive director, returned calls for further details by press time.
