Mr. Hallam replaces Jonathon Griggs, who left the firm to join another money management firm. Charlotte Powell, J.P. Morgan spokeswoman, was unable to provide the name of the firm; efforts to reach Mr. Griggs were unsuccessful.
Mr. Hallam will oversee foreign-exchange investment strategy and alpha generation.
Mr. Hallam was deputy head of the global macro rates strategy team. Information on his replacement could not be immediately learned.
Separately, Frederick Bourgoin and Bhupinder Bahra were named co-heads of the global quantitative group. The positions are new and are part of an expansion of the group.
The two were portfolio managers at Schroder Investment Management and left the firm in June. A Schroder news release earlier this year stated that their responsibilities were assumed by others on the firm's fixed-income team.
All three will report to Nick Gartside, international CIO for global fixed income.
