Abu Dhabi Investment Authority snags former RREEF infrastructure chief

John McCarthy was named global head of infrastructure at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, confirmed Erik Portanger, ADIA spokesman.

Mr. McCarthy replaced Chris Koski, who became managing director and global head of investment strategy at Morgan Stanley (MS) Infrastructure Partners, said Matt Burkhard, spokesman at Morgan Stanley.

Mr. McCarthy will report to Majed Al Romaithi, executive director of the sovereign wealth fund’s real estate and infrastructure department, according to an ADIA news release.

Mr. McCarthy most recently was managing director at Deutsche Bank and global head of RREEF Infrastructure. He was replaced by Nadir Maruf, head of Asia-Pacific alternative investments, and Hamish Mackenzie, head of infrastructure Europe and infrastructure debt.

ADIA, which does not divulge its assets under management, is estimated to have about $627 billion, according to data from the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute. The authority has from 1% to 5% of assets in infrastructure, according to its website.
