Fiduciary Counselors hires ex-DOL exec

Ivan Strasfeld joined investment adviser Fiduciary Counselors as senior adviser.

The position is new. “We really want him to advise us on prohibited transactions and any of the new developments coming out of DOL that he could shed light on,” President and CFO Jack Miller said in a phone interview. “He's also a really nice guy.”

Until February 2012, Mr. Strasfeld was director of the Employee Benefits Security Administration's Office of Exemption Determinations at the Department of Labor. Before that, he oversaw several EBSA divisions involved with regulation and fiduciary interpretations.
