Textron contributed more than $400 million to pension funds in 2012

Textron Inc., Providence, R.I., contributed $405 million to its U.S. defined benefit pension plans in 2012, according to its fourth-quarter earnings statement.
Textron contributed $224 million in the fourth quarter.
Textron also plans to contribute about $200 million to its U.S. pension plans this year. It contributed $642 million in 2011.
Textron had $5 billion in assets and $6.3 billion in liabilities for a funded status of 79.4% as of Dec. 31, 2011, according to its most recent 10-K filing.
