New York State Teachers seeks officer to help with equity searches

New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, is seeking an investment officer to help conduct searches for public equity managers to invest the pension plan's assets in domestic equity and international equity markets, confirmed Heidi Brennan, a spokeswoman for the $88.1 billion pension fund.

“We are recruiting for a vacant position as part of our ongoing effort to further develop the investment department in order to deal with the ever-increasing complexity of financial markets,” Ms. Brennan wrote in an e-mail.

Under the direction of Noreen Jones, the manager of external public equities, the investment officer will screen public equity manager databases for potential candidates, conduct “qualitative and quantitative analysis of strategies” and conduct manager interviews, according to a job posting on the pension fund's website.

In addition, the investment officer will monitor managers in the pension fund's lineup and conduct “general oversight of NYSTRS' externally managed public equity investments,” the website said.

Candidates should mail a completed NYSTRS application to: NYSTRS/HR, 10 Corporate Woods Drive, Albany, NY 12211. The pension fund didn't announce a timetable for selecting a candidate.
