Andrea Echberg was named partner and head of European infrastructure investments at Pantheon Ventures, according to Kathryn Leaf Wilmes, partner and global head of infrastructure investments.
The position is new.
Based in London, Ms. Echberg reports to Ms. Wilmes.
“We are seeing increasing deal flow in the nascent infrastructure secondaries market predominantly driven by pressure on banks' and insurance companies' balance sheets from Basel III and Solvency II, respectively, as well as other regulatory pressures such as the Volcker Rule,” Ms Wilmes said in an e-mail.
Advantages to clients include “vintage diversification, J-curve mitigation and superior risk-adjusted returns,” Ms Wilmes said. “Strong deal flow in carefully selected co-investments will further enhance these benefits.”
Ms. Echberg was previously head of infrastructure in the principal finance investments team at Societe Generale. She was not replaced after leaving the company in April 2012, according to a source at Societe Generale. Ms. Echberg's responsibilities were assumed by Gianluca Mazzoni, the company's managing director and head of principal finance investments.
