Mel Lindsay was named director, North America institutional, at Investec Asset Management, confirmed Richard Garland, managing director, Americas and Japan client group.
The position is new. Mr. Lindsay operates out of the firm’s new Los Angeles office and is responsible for building the London-based firm’s institutional business on the West Coast.
He was previously senior vice president and director of institutional investments at Artio Global Investors.
Artio spokesman Neil Shapiro wrote in an e-mail that Mr. Lindsay’s responsibilities were assumed by Teri Smith, first vice president, director of institutional client service.
