David Greely will join Bridgewater Associates as a portfolio strategist on Jan. 1, Parag Shah, senior management associate, said in an e-mail.
The position is new, said Mr. Shah.
Mr. Greely was a managing director and head of energy research at Goldman Sachs & Co. Leslie Shribman, a Goldman Sachs spokeswoman, declined to comment on a replacement.
