El Paso County hires manager for emerging markets equity

El Paso County Retirement Plan, Colorado Springs, Colo., hired Aberdeen Asset Management to run $11.8 million in active emerging markets equity, said Dale Connors, managing director at Watershed Investment Consultants, the $275 million pension fund's consultant.
Aberdeen replaces Dimensional Fund Advisors, which ran the assets in a similar strategy. The pension fund's retirement board has some new members, and Mr. Connors said they were not comfortable with the risk and volatility in Dimensional's portfolio.
