Texas Employees Retirement System's executive director to resign

Ann Bishop will step down as executive director of the $22.8 billion Texas Employees Retirement System, Austin, to become chief of staff to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, effective Dec. 3, confirmed spokeswoman Mary Jane Wardlow.

Ms. Bishop asked Paula Jones, general counsel and chief compliance officer for ERS, to serve as acting executive director until the board meets on Dec. 7 to consider the interim appointment, according to a news release on the pension plan's website. Ms. Jones has worked for ERS for the past 15 years.

Ms. Bishop has been executive director since 2004.
