Credit Suisse Group and Qatar Holding agreed to establish Aventicum Capital Management, a money management joint venture, to invest in emerging and frontier markets, according to a Credit Suisse news release.
Aventicum will be launched in Doha in early 2013 with Hashem Montasser to be appointed as CEO and chief investment officer. Mr. Montasser was head of asset management at EFG-Hermes Holding SAE. A second, yet unnamed international location will be added later during the same year, according to the release.
Aladdin Hangari, CEO of Credit Suisse Qatar, and Martin Keller, managing director and head of asset management for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Credit Suisse, will also take on additional responsibilities for Aventicum. Mr. Keller will be the joint venture's chairman of the board of the directors.
Qatar Holding is owned by Qatar Investment Authority, a sovereign wealth fund based in Doha with about $115 billion in assets. Efforts to reach Qatar and Credit Suisse officials were unsuccessful at press time.
