Surprise: European stocks lead FTSE indexes through October

Despite the ongoing economic turmoil and uncertainty about how the crisis in the eurozone will be resolved (not to mention numerous downward revisions to GDP growth estimates), European equities have posted the highest returns among the FTSE All-World Index Series through the first 10 months of 2012. The FTSE Europe ex U.K. index returned 14.62% through October, edging out the FTSE U.S. index by 10 basis points.
