Vanderbilt University endowment, Nashville, returned 1.3% in the year ended June 30, according to its most recent financial report.
The endowment, which reported assets of $3.4 billion as of June 30, attributed the positive return to an overweight position in private equity and venture capital investments and being underweight in global equities during a volatile year.
The target allocation as of June 30 was 35% global equities, 25% absolute return, 15% private markets, 10% fixed income, and 7.5% each, real estate and natural resources.
The actual allocation as of June 30 was 31.4% global equities, 27.7% private markets, 20% absolute return, 7.9% real estate, 7.5% natural resources, 5.2% fixed income, 0.2% cash and cash equivalents, and 0.1% other.
