CVC chairman to retire; 3 named as co-chairs

Michael Smith, chairman of CVC Capital Partners, will retire in January. Mr. Smith will be succeeded by Donald Mackenzie, Rolly van Rappard and Steve Koltes, who were named co-chairmen, spokesman Edward Moore said in an e-mail.

Mr. Mackenzie will chair the board meetings and continue to chair the firm's investment and portfolio committees. Mr. van Rappard will continue as chairman of the firm's Europe/North America private equity board and its Asia Pacific private equity board. Mr. Koltes will be responsible for investor relations.

In addition, Robert Squire is joining CVC as a senior managing director on its investor relations team. Mr. Squire had been fundraising director at Coller Capital. Jade Neal, spokeswoman at Coller Capital could not be reached by press time.
