State Street Global Advisors crosses $2 trillion asset threshold

State Street Global Advisors reported $2.065 trillion in assets under management as of Sept. 30, up 8.2% from the previous quarter and up 11.3% from the previous year, according to parent company State Street Corp. (STT)'s third-quarter earnings report Tuesday.

SSgA's passive assets under management totaled $1.557 trillion for the third quarter, up 10.3% from the previous quarter and 18.1% from a year earlier. Exchange-traded funds totaled $336 billion, up 10.2% from the previous quarter and 36% higher than the previous year.

Active AUM totaled $125 billion, up 5.9% from the previous quarter and up 14.7% from the previous year and cash AUM totaled $383 billion, up 1.1% from the previous quarter and down 10.5% from the previous year.

The S&P 500 was up 3.8% in the third quarter, while the MSCI EAFE increased 2.9%.

Investment management fees increased 2% from the previous quarter, due primarily to global equity markets, and up 9.6% from the previous year, due to stronger equity markets and new business.

Net income for parent company State Street Corp. totaled $654 billion, up 36.3% from the previous quarter and up 17% from the previous year, and revenue totaled $2.36 billion, down 2.5% from the previous quarter and down 2.9% from the previous year.
