John Thompson Jr. joined Hewitt EnnisKnupp on Thursday as partner and head of investment solutions within the consulting firm's institutional advisory solutions unit.
The position is new, said MacKenzie Lucas, a Hewitt EnnisKnupp spokeswoman, in an interview.
Mr. Thompson will collaborate with Hewitt EnnisKnupp's investment and research teams to provide institutional investors with customized approaches such as global asset allocation, risk management, portfolio construction and multiasset class alternative investment funds-of-funds portfolios.
Based in the firm's Chicago office, Mr. Thompson reports to J.J. Wilczewski, practice leader for the institutional advisory services business.
Until Sept. 26, Mr. Thompson was senior vice president of investment implementation and a portfolio manager at Morningstar Investment Management, which also provides investment solutions for institutional and other types of investors.
Alexa Auerbach, a Morningstar spokeswoman, said the firm will add a senior-level consultant in the investment management division, but will not replace Mr. Thompson in his previous role.
