Gavin Walker was named chairman of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, which manages the NZ$19 billion (US$15.7 billion) New Zealand Superannuation Fund, Auckland, confirmed spokeswoman Catherine Etheredge.
Mr. Walker, who was deputy chairman, replaces David May, who retired from the board. Mr. May was the first chairman and has served on the board since 2002.
Board member Catherine Savage will take over as deputy chair. Philippa “Pip” Dunphy, the newest board member, was appointed in May, Ms. Etheredge wrote in an e-mail.
The fund also announced that David Sara was named general manager, operations; he was previously head of corporate strategy. Mark Fennell, was named general manager, portfolio completion; he was previously general manager, operations. Neil Williams was named chief investment adviser and head of strategic tilting; he was previously general manager, asset allocation.
Mr. Williams’ position is new and prompted the reorganization of the senior team, Ms. Etheredge said.
