Harvard Management names commodities chief

Satu Parikh will join Harvard Management Co. in June as a managing director and head of commodities.

It will be the first time someone has held that position since Jane Mendillo became president and CEO of HMC on July 1, 2008, said Harvard University spokeswoman Christine Heenan. HMC manages the $27.6 billion Harvard University endowment,

According to a Harvard news release, Mr. Parikh will be responsible for “building and leading a portfolio managed team focused on commodities.” He will report to Stephen Blyth, managing director and head of internal management at HMC.

Mr. Parikh was president and head of trading with RBS Sempra Commodities. Michael Geller, a spokesman at parent Royal Bank of Scotland said RBS Sempra was wound down over the past year.
