USC names 1st-ever endowment CIO

Lisa Mazzocco will become the first chief investment officer for the University of Southern California’s $2.9 billion endowment starting April 18, confirmed Carl Marziali, assistant vice president of media relations at USC, Los Angeles.
Ms Mazzocco is CIO of the $37 billion Los Angeles County Employees’ Retirement Association, Pasadena.
John McClelland, LACERA principal investment officer, real estate, was appointed interim CIO. Gregg Rademacher, LACERA chief executive officer, said the fund has launched a nationwide search for a new CIO.
