Eileen Rominger today was named global CIO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, according to an internal memo.
The position is new. Ms. Rominger had been global head of GSAM’s fundamental equity business. Steve Barry, co-CIO of growth equities, will succeed Ms. Rominger, according to a GSAM spokeswoman.
The internal memo said Ms. Rominger will oversee the investment operations of GSAM’s fundamental equity, quantitative investment strategies and fixed-income businesses.
Also, Steve McGuinness and Eric Lane were named co-COOs of Goldman Sachs Group’s investment management division, which includes GSAM and Goldman Sachs’ private wealth management.
They fill the position left vacant when Marc Spilker became co-head of Goldman’s investment management division in June 2008, together with Tim O’Neill.
Mr. McGuinness, a managing director and partner at GSAM, will retain his duties as global head of GSAM’s distribution.
Mr. Lane, also a managing director and partner, will retain his duties as head of GSAM’s alternative investments and capital markets business.
