The 10th largest statewide public pension fund, located in Columbus, is seeking an exceptional leader as Chief Investment Officer of this $60.7 billion fund. OPERS serves 769,500 members and over 166,500 retirees and beneficiaries.
The CIO is responsible for the investment performance and management of the 50-person investment division and oversees the key aspects of the investment program, including staffing, internal and external management, portfolio rebalancing, risk control, and compliance. The CIO is also a member of the Guiding Council, which oversees the strategic direction of OPERS. A Bachelor's degree is required (Master's preferred); a CFA is preferred. A minimum of 15 years of relevant generalist investment experience leading a complex investment organization and a positive track record of performance as compared to appropriate benchmarks are required. The ideal candidate should be intellectually sharp, a strategic thinker and visionary, with excellent leadership capabilities to advance organizational and investment performance. While public pension fund experience is desirable, applicants with relevant investment experience will be considered. Compensation is designed to attract the best-qualified applicants.
